Part of living green is being kind to the earth and one more way we can do this is to use our resources wisely and not be wasteful. It takes more energy and land to breed and raise an animal for slaughter then it does to just grow vegetables and grains to eat.
I watched a few minutes of a really disturbing video that I really cant even list the link here to because its so disgusting. I had to close my eyes several times. If you want to watch it for yourself and get educated on how animals are treated just google meat dot org. If you choose to be blind to the fact that this really happens, well I can tell you I have seen the semi trucks with the chickens in cages going down the freeway. They live in cages their whole life then they are literally kicked and thrown into another cage for transport and not allowed water of food for several days. Many die on their trek just so they can be eaten later.
I grew up eating meat so everyone can get over the whole but its so tasty thing because you know what? so are a lot of other things and I think its unforgivable the way animals are treated just so we can eat them. We buy cage free eggs for the most part and I still eat chicken and fish but Im rethinking those as well. I have only had red meat once in the last 8 mo, maybe longer and it was only because the waiter forgot I asked for a veggie patty. I didn't even eat half of it.
I wont judge you for eating meat, don't judge me when I don't. Just saying if were going to eat meat lets make wise choices and buy from reputable companies and think about what can we do to stop the cruelty? Not to mention if we are eating meat that comes from the slaughterhouses that were on the video which we probably are we are eating diseased animals that lived a horrible short life.
The people that work there Im sorry but must have some kind of psychopathic tendencies. How can anyone over and over again with their own hands injure, mutilate and kill an animal the way they do?? So, there's my rant and fair warning for today. If you don't want to be disgusted, don't look up the video. If you can squeamishly get through part of it to educate yourself, the go ahead...

Go Green
With all the talk these days about gmo's and organic and being green friendly...
How ya doing?
I'm doing fine.
I recycle the glass.
I don't bring home plastic bags unless they are ones from previous packaging that was to be thrown out.
I support my local business.
I buy thrift store pretty much all the time.
I hand wash and hang to dry anything I can.
I compost.
When I say I, I mean we. The family. Four of us practice green living every day.
We shop bulk. We garden.
Every little bit makes a difference and you can do your part.
What will it be?
