Eco Friendly Food Savers

Have you ever brought home delicious bread and ate the whole loaf only to toss the bread bag into the trash?

Nope, not I.

Have you ever bought the fake meat tenders that has the resealable seal and tossed it into the trash along with said bread bag?

No, not I.

Have you ever ate all of your cottage cheese just to toss the tub into the trash?

No, not I.

We use every container, wrapper and bag multiple times.

The bread bags wrap leftovers. They go around blocks of cheese. The wrap up left over pizza -unless of course we remembered to keep the box then we put the leftovers in there.

The food baggies that are resealable get washed and used for bits of cheese, onion or any other left over that needs a fresh seal.

The plastic tubs that seem to be every where...cottage cheese tubs, margarine tubs, yogurt tubs...

We use them for leftovers, craft projects and finally at the end of their use they get washed and go into recycling.

My six year old is smart enough to know most recycling items on his own and if he doesn't know, he asks. Are you teaching yourself recycling? Are you teaching yourself to be kind to the earth?

If that last line sounded corny, think about it. Where does your trash go and what is it made of? Can it be reused or recycled?  Who has a job created by recycling? Who does it hurt to recycle? No one.

Look in your garbage, you wont see much actual garbage. You will se mostly compost and recycling. Get on it....carry on and recycle.
